ROBYN MORLEY
Hi! My name is Robyn Morley and I am the Founding Director of CHIA. I am a former Queensland IT Professional who fell in love with Hoi An, Vietnam and it’s people. I worked for 5 years setting up disability services at Hoi An Orphanage before founding CHIA as I wanted to give families the opportunity to access disability services without relinquishing their children. I am very proud of the staff at CHIA and their commitment to improving the lives of disadvantaged children. I am excited about the future of CHIA and can’t wait to see how far our services can extend to help those in need.

I first came to Vietnam in the 1990’s and worked for 5 years as an engineer. During this time, my wife and I fell in love with the country, its people and its culture. I returned to Australia and raised a family but never forgot my time in this amazing country. Fast forward 20 years with kids left home and working finished, my wife and I have been spending more and more time in Vietnam. I have always been struck by the resilience of the Vietnamese people, and the hardships they face. The opportunity to work with CHIA and help deliver its amazing programs is one I eagerly accepted.

Wow, how do you write a short bio about yourself for the CHIA website. It’s a little more daunting than I expected. But this Aussie girl doesn’t shy away from the unusual in life. Turning 50 way back in 2009, I felt that time was running out on my ambition to ‘volunteer somewhere in the world’ and needing a rest from working with people with mental health issues, I somehow found CHIA. Accepted as a Volunteer for 3 months, little did I know that my life would be changed forever. Vietnam and CHIA captured by heart and soul. Skip forward to 2026, Hoi An is my second home, and CHIA staff and children are family. I travel there every year with groups of friends to reconnect, support, listen, learn and enjoy the experiences every single time. In short, in giving, you receive more. I am honoured to assist and support CHIA in making a positive difference to the lives of those who need it most in the community.
